Vivid & Fashion Hair Color in Brooklyn
Creative Hair Color With Personality, Dimension, and Style
Not every hair color needs to look natural. Vivid and fashion color gives you the freedom to go pink, lavender, red, blue, violet, or somewhere completely your own — from a subtle pop of color to a full creative transformation, bold, soft, playful, or inspired by the latest Korean and Japanese hair trends.
At Seoul Scissors, vivid and fashion color is customized to your hair, starting color, desired shade, and hair condition. With more than 25 years of experience, Nicole approaches creative color the same way as every other service: the color should look beautiful, but your hair still needs to be treated with care.
The Basics
What Is Vivid or Fashion Hair Color?
Vivid and fashion colors are expressive shades beyond traditional natural hair color — pink, rose, lavender, purple, blue, red, magenta, pastels, multi-color combinations, creative face-framing color, color panels, K-pop-inspired and anime-inspired color. The result can be subtle or dramatic — you don’t need a full head of bright color to enjoy fashion color; a few carefully placed sections can change the whole look.
Pricing
What This Costs
Because the right process depends heavily on your starting hair color and how much lightening is required, vivid and fashion color is quoted at your consultation rather than as a flat rate. As a general guide:
Single-Tone or Subtle Placement
Starting around $150
Money piece, underlayer, or ends.
Multi-Tone or Dimensional Vivid Color
Starting around $220
Multiple shades combined for movement and depth.
Full Creative Transformation
Starting around $300+
All-over color, custom placement, multiple tones.
K-Beauty & J-Beauty
Korean & Japanese-Inspired Color
Korean and Japanese hair trends combine strong color ideas with thoughtful placement and styling — a soft pastel shade, a vivid fringe, contrasting sections, or a creative color built around a specific haircut. At Seoul Scissors, this isn’t about copying one trend; it’s about adapting the aesthetic to you — your haircut, coloring, complexion, personal style, and how much upkeep you want.
Shades
Choose Your Color
Vivid Pink & Rose
Soft rose and dusty pink to brighter, saturated pink; can be combined with other tones for a more dimensional result.
Lavender & Purple
Lavender creates a softer pastel effect, deeper purple and violet create more intensity. Starting color determines how much lightening is needed.
Vivid Red
Rich cherry and wine tones to brighter fashion reds, depending on your natural color and color history.
Blue
One of the most striking fashion colors, from denim-inspired tones to deeply saturated shades. Requires significant prep depending on starting color, so consultation matters here especially.
Pastel Color
Pink, lavender, blue, peach, and other soft shades; generally needs a very light starting canvas to look clean and true.
Custom & Multi-Color
Multiple shades, contrasting panels, or a custom combination. Bring inspiration photos to your consultation.
Intensity
How Bright Do You Want to Go?
Fashion color doesn’t have to mean neon. The right intensity depends on your personality, workplace, maintenance tolerance, and hair condition:
Subtle —
A small amount in the front, underneath, ends, or selected sections
Dimensional —
Multiple tones combined for movement and depth
Bold Vivid —
Brighter, more saturated, more maintenance
Full Creative Transformation —
Placement, tone, haircut, and styling all designed together
The Process
The Lightening Process Matters
The final shade depends heavily on the canvas underneath it. Many bright and pastel colors require lightening first — a pale lavender and a vivid lavender don’t need the same prep, and dark brunette hair can’t simply have pastel pink applied over it and match a properly lightened result. That’s why the consultation comes first: we evaluate your starting color and determine what’s realistic.
Can I go from dark hair to vivid color? Sometimes — it depends on the specific color and your hair history. A very light pastel or vivid shade from dark hair may need more than one appointment; a gradual process can produce a better long-term result than forcing it into one visit.
Your color history matters. Before starting, be ready to discuss permanent color, box dye, black dye, previous bleach, highlights, balayage, henna, fashion color, or color-removing products you’ve used. Old color affects how evenly hair lightens and how new color develops.
Hair Health
Will Vivid Color Damage My Hair?
The color itself usually isn’t the hard part — the lightening required to reach certain shades is. Seoul Scissors takes a hair-health-first approach: if your hair is ready, we’ll discuss the process; if it needs strengthening first, you’ll be told; and if the exact shade you want isn’t realistic without compromising your hair, we’ll talk through alternatives. Sometimes a slightly less ambitious shade produces a beautiful result with less stress on the hair.
Upkeep
How Long Does Vivid Color Last — and Maintaining It
Vivid color needs more upkeep than natural-looking color and fades gradually with washing, so the color you leave with is meant to evolve. Fade speed depends on shade, starting lightness, wash frequency, water temperature, products, heat styling, sun exposure, and hair porosity — discuss this before the color is created so you choose a shade that fits your life.
At home: wash less frequently, use color-safe products, limit heat styling, and protect hair from sun, heat, and chlorine.
Men’s Color
Vivid Color for Men
Creative color works well with Korean and Japanese-inspired men’s cuts — bleached fringe, vivid bangs, color panels, or bold sections designed around the haircut rather than treated separately. A vivid fringe can transform a two-block or textured cut without coloring the whole head.
Inspired?
K-Pop & Anime-Inspired Color
Bring your reference photos to the consultation — we’ll look at what makes the color work (shade, brightness, placement, haircut, balance) and build a version that works for you, not a copy of someone else’s hair.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need to bleach my hair for vivid color?
Depends on the shade and your starting color — some tonal effects work over darker hair, but bright or pastel colors generally need a lighter base.
Can I get vivid color on dark hair?
Sometimes, depending on the shade — a deeper fashion red may need less lightening than pastel pink or lavender.
Will vivid color damage my hair?
The prep required to lighten hair can affect its condition; your hair is assessed first and the process is planned around what it can safely handle.
Can I bring a picture?
Yes — reference photos are especially useful for creative color.
Can you create a custom color?
Yes — custom and multi-color combinations are discussed at your consultation.
Can men get vivid or fashion color?
Yes — vivid fringe, color panels, and K-pop-inspired sections work well with modern men’s cuts.
Can you fix fashion color from another salon?
Possibly — corrective color needs an assessment of the existing color and hair condition first.
