Korean Hairstyles for Women & Men in Brooklyn

Movement, Layering & Texture — Adapted to You

Korean hairstyles are known for their movement, thoughtful layering, natural-looking texture, and attention to how the haircut works with your features. But there is no single Korean haircut.

Korean hair design covers everything from soft layered cuts and modern women’s styles to Two-Block cuts, textured men’s hairstyles, Korean perms, and polished styling.

At Seoul Scissors in Dyker Heights, Brooklyn, I adapt these techniques to your hair, face shape, texture, and the look you actually want to wear.

The Philosophy

What Makes Korean Hairstyles Different?

A good Korean-inspired haircut is not about copying a trend. The shape, layering, texture, and movement all work together.

Many Korean hairstyles are designed to look natural instead of heavily constructed. The haircut does much of the work, so your hair falls into a flattering shape with relatively simple styling.

That does not mean every Korean hairstyle looks the same. Some are soft and understated. Others are textured, dramatic, or highly styled. The right choice depends on your hair and your personal style.

Women

Korean Hairstyles for Women

Korean women’s hairstyles often emphasize movement, face-framing layers, and a shape that grows out naturally. Popular options include:

  • Korean Layered HaircutLayering is the foundation of most Korean women’s styles — it adds movement and reduces the heavy, one-length look that longer hair can develop. I adjust the amount and placement of the layers to your hair density and the shape you want. Explore the Korean Layered Haircut →
  • Wolf CutThe wolf cut combines shorter layers near the crown with longer lengths through the back for a more textured, modern shape. It can be customized from soft and wearable to more dramatic and heavily layered. Explore the Wolf Cut →
  • Hush CutThe hush cut is a softer layered style that creates movement without the stronger, more dramatic shape of a wolf cut. It is a good option if you want visible layering while keeping the overall look soft. Explore the Hush Cut →
  • Butterfly CutThe butterfly cut uses face-framing layers that flutter away from the face while the length through the back stays long. It is a good option if you want airy volume without giving up your length. Explore the Butterfly Cut →
  • Leaf CutA Korean layered cut with soft, feathered layers that create light, airy volume and natural movement. Explore the Leaf Cut →
  • Shaggy CutA textured shag adapted with Korean layering — effortless, lived-in texture with a softer finish than a classic shag. Explore the Shaggy Cut →
  • Korean-Inspired Layered StylesNot every Korean-inspired haircut needs a trend name. Sometimes the best result is a customized layered cut that uses Korean-inspired techniques and proportions, built around your natural hair instead of forcing your hair into a trend.
Men

Korean Hairstyles for Men

Korean men’s hairstyles range from clean and structured to textured and relaxed. The right haircut depends on your hair density, natural growth direction, face shape, and how much styling you want to do.

  • Two-Block HaircutThe Two-Block is one of the most recognizable Korean men’s haircuts. It creates separation between shorter sides and a longer top, so the top can be styled in different ways. Explore the Two-Block Haircut →
  • Comma HairComma hair has a curved section of hair that falls forward toward the forehead. It gives a polished Korean-inspired look without needing an extremely complicated haircut. The final shape depends on your hair’s natural direction and how much styling you are comfortable doing.
  • Dandy CutA classic Korean men’s cut with natural, flowing layers at a medium length — polished but easy to style. Explore the Dandy Cut →
  • Textured Korean Men’s StylesNot every Korean men’s hairstyle needs to be a named trend. Textured fringes, layered cuts, scissor cuts, and customized shapes can all be adapted with Korean-inspired techniques. Explore Men’s Haircuts →
Perms & Texture

Korean Perms and Korean-Inspired Texture

Korean hair design is not limited to cutting. Perming techniques can create movement, volume, waves, curls, or easier-to-manage shapes, depending on the result you want. I offer several Korean and Japanese-inspired perm and straightening techniques, each for a different purpose.

If you are thinking about a perm but are not sure which type is right for you, start with my detailed Korean Perm Guide.

The right technique depends on your hair condition, natural texture, and the result you want.

Choosing

How to Choose a Korean Hairstyle for Your Hair

A hairstyle that looks great in a photo may not look the same on everyone. Before you choose, think about:

  • Your Face ShapeThe position and length of layers around the face change the overall balance of a haircut.
  • Your Hair Texture and TypeStraight, wavy, curly, fine, and thick hair all behave differently with the same cut. If your hair is curly or wavy, the cut has to account for how your texture moves and contracts. Fine hair needs controlled layering so it keeps enough visual weight. Thick hair benefits from strategic layering to reduce bulk and create movement. Learn About Curly Haircuts →   Explore Asian Haircuts & Styling →
  • Your Hair DensityA style designed for thick hair may need to change for fine hair, and thick hair may need weight removed in specific areas.
  • Your Natural Growth PatternHair that grows forward, outward, or in different directions may need a different shape than the one in your reference photo.
  • Your Daily RoutineThe best haircut is one you can actually maintain. If you do not want to spend much time styling every morning, I will take that into account before deciding how aggressive the layers or texture should be.
Shape First

Don’t Choose the Style Before You Choose the Shape

The name of a hairstyle is only part of the decision. “Wolf cut,” “Two-Block,” “comma hair,” and “layered cut” can all look very different depending on who is wearing them.

A better approach is to start with the result you want. Do you want:

  • More movement?
  • Less bulk?
  • More volume?
  • A softer face frame?
  • More texture?
  • Hair that is easier to style?
  • A more modern men’s shape?
  • Waves or curls?
  • Straighter, smoother hair?

From there, I choose the haircut or technique around your hair, instead of the other way around.

Customization

Real Hair, Real Customization

Korean-inspired hair design works best when the technique is adapted, not copied. With more than 25 years of professional experience, I work with different hair textures, densities, lengths, and styling goals.

My goal is not to make every client look like the same reference photo. It is to take the elements you like and build a version that works with your hair and features.

Questions

Korean Hairstyles FAQ

Do I need to know the name of the haircut before I book?

No. Bring a reference photo, tell me what you like about the look, and I will work out the right cut or technique from there.

Do Korean hairstyles only work on straight hair?

No. Straight, wavy, curly, fine, and thick hair can all work, but the cut has to be designed around your texture. A photo of a style on straight hair will not look identical on curly hair, and I will tell you what is realistic.

Do Korean hairstyles take a lot of styling?

It depends on the style. Many are cut so the shape does most of the work. If you want something low-effort, I will cut it with that in mind.

Do you do Korean hairstyles for men?

Yes. I do Two-Block cuts, comma hair, dandy cuts, textured scissor cuts, and men’s Korean perms, including the down perm.
